Abstract:

The paper that you are going through deals with the verses that have been mentioned in ahadith (traditions) for remedies. The author, after analysing its background and conceptualistic theory, indicates about the treatment of spirit and body with reference to the Qur’an and wants to answer that whether the Qur’an does contain some special cure and remedy for physical or mental diseases? Besides, it also analyses those ahadith that indicate the treatment of certain disease through certain chapters or verses of the Qur’an.

Indeed, the Qur’an has been revealed to cure the spiritual disease but whereas the issue of the physical diseases are concerned there seems to be differences of opinion. Some of the scholars have considered it from the viewpoint of benevolence, while some are of the opinion of cause and effect and some view it to be absolutely convictionally and some think the chapters and verses of the Qur’an like that of medicine.

The author, from these discussions, derives a conclusion that the Qur’an in its many verses deal with the concept of  prevention and precaution for being healthy in the form of hygienic and sanitary in terms of hygiene of food and  individual, sexual relationship and etc or, through jurisprudence and norms, conduct, and ethics. But the chapter or verses being like medicine for mankind’s physique is an issue to be discussed and analysed.  However, all the words of the Qur’an are light and can play a role in the human health but this need to have a firm faith and believe and Divine Will should also include it.
